Mihrajayya, le petit prince, par Biba Berrend, 2024

Andy Berrend

This captivating artwork is a perfect example of Modern Expressionism, where the artist deploys a bold and dynamic palette. The distorted faces, composed of colorful geometric shapes, immediately capture the attention. The enormous oval eyes, in yellow, green, blue and brown, seem to observe directly at the viewer, instilling an intriguing liveliness. The use of bold black lines to delineate the different sections gives the work a clean structure, almost like a stained glass window. The bright color choices contrast sharply with the gray background, making the elements of the character stand out with remarkable intensity. The strategically placed touches of red and orange add an invigorating warmth to the composition. The crown sketched at the top, in orange and red, introduces an element of royalty or majesty, inviting imaginative interpretation. The spiral-shaped nose and excessively sinuous lips add a touch of surrealism and fantasy. What particularly distinguishes this work is the artist's ability to fuse humor and depth, creating a piece that is both playful and intense. Each element, carefully thought out, engages the viewer in a dynamic and perpetual dialogue, inviting a deeper dive into the creative mind that conceived it.
