Description
This artwork presents a bucolic landscape dominated by a majestic tree, meticulously drawn in ink. The striking contrast between the dark tree and the surrounding fields creates a captivating visual depth. Each leaf is rendered with impressive precision, revealing the artist's technical mastery. The gently sloping terrain guides the eye toward the horizon, where the delicate silhouettes of hills undulate to infinity. In the foreground, lightly sketched grasses suggest subtle movement, infusing the scene with a sense of gentleness and peace. The use of black and white lends a timeless quality to the work, elegantly accentuating textures and details. This combination of simplicity and complexity makes this piece a remarkable illustration of natural beauty elevated by art.
Presentation
Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Olivier Picy first forged his vision in the rigor of high-level graphic design.
In the 2000s, he collaborated as a freelancer with industry leaders (Evian, Orangina, Côte d'Or), before becoming known for his digital visual creation. Artistic approach: Cognitive Art and Nature Today, the artist is dedicated to exploring the tree and cognitive art. His current works, created with pigmented ink on thick paper (A4 format) in between three and five hours, are striking for their density and almost photographic rendering.
Through the obsessive repetition of the line from archival quality ballpoint pen, he explores the complex structure of living things. His trees are not simple botanical representations, but neural networks projected onto paper, a visual metaphor for the resilience and connection between the human mind and nature. The surgical precision of the line allows the eye to follow a mixture of continuous and discontinuous lines, attempting to find a balance between matter and void.
