Description
This captivating artwork features a majestic tree at the center of the composition, stretching vertically to its full height. The delicately detailed branches unfurl gracefully, contrasting with the robust, solid trunk. Each leaf is meticulously rendered, capturing the texture and natural complexity of the foliage. The black and white palette lends an elegant timelessness, allowing the purity of form and line to shine through. The artist has captured the essence of the tree, symbolizing both the strength and fragility of nature. The spacing of the branches and the balance of forms create visual harmony, while the stark background reinforces the tree's commanding presence. This work successfully transforms a simple subject into a striking visual testament to natural beauty and complexity.
Presentation
Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, Olivier Picy first forged his vision in the rigor of high-level graphic design.
In the 2000s, he collaborated as a freelancer with industry leaders (Evian, Orangina, Côte d'Or), before becoming known for his digital visual creation. Artistic approach: Cognitive Art and Nature Today, the artist is dedicated to exploring the tree and cognitive art. His current works, created with pigmented ink on thick paper (A4 format) in between three and five hours, are striking for their density and almost photographic rendering.
Through the obsessive repetition of the line from archival quality ballpoint pen, he explores the complex structure of living things. His trees are not simple botanical representations, but neural networks projected onto paper, a visual metaphor for the resilience and connection between the human mind and nature. The surgical precision of the line allows the eye to follow a mixture of continuous and discontinuous lines, attempting to find a balance between matter and void.
