Description
This composition is part of the aesthetic of raw art. It offers an introspective vision where the line takes precedence over the form.
A dark and massive figure dominates the space. Its irregular contour opposes the precision of the pink background. The latter is composed of a methodical repetition of spirals. The chromatic contrast creates an immediate visual tension.
The face, sketched with simplicity, gives way to drips and hatching. The artist superimposes the materials to densify the surface. Acrylic meets chalk, ink, and marker. A light pink circle breaks the black mass in the center of the body.
The gesture is spontaneous. It translates a raw and direct inner movement. The superposition of techniques brings a tactile depth to the whole. The work plays on the balance between the order of the repetitive motif and the chaos of the central silhouette.
This drawing made in 2025 explores the boundary between portrait and abstraction. The mixed technique emphasizes the organic dimension of the figure.
Presentation
Brigitte Derbigny is a contemporary painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in France. Her artistic talent has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions in Spain, Canada, and Brazil.
Brigitte Derbigny's creative process is an introspective journey, a journey from the inside out, taking place in the margins of her mind. It begins with spontaneous bursts of inspiration, manifesting as quick sketches made with pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, or ink—whatever tools are at hand. These sketches constitute the genesis of her artistic exploration, transporting her beyond the boundaries of time and space, from the realms of yesterday to the landscapes of today.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Derbigny currently resides and works in Burgundy, where she continues to explore the depths of her artistic vision, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery through her evocative creations.
