Description
This acrylic on canvas composition explores the boundaries of the figurative portrait. The gaze is immediately captured by an intense red mass. It dominates the center, structured by dense and nervous hatching.
The approach resembles raw art. The line is free, almost instinctive. Circular shapes and graphic signs punctuate the white space of the background. A white circle marked with a cross attracts attention in the upper part.
The work plays on the contrasts of textures. Areas of opaque white are adjacent to spontaneous scribbles. The whole creates a dialogue between order and chaos. The layering of the layers reveals a rapid and introspective creative process.
The artist uses lines to highlight precise details and rough contours. Discreet drips bring an organic dimension to the surface. The signature appears vertically on the left edge, integrating with the overall structure. This work dates from 2021.
Presentation
Brigitte Derbigny is a contemporary painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in France. Her artistic talent has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions in Spain, Canada, and Brazil.
Brigitte Derbigny's creative process is an introspective journey, a journey from the inside out, taking place in the margins of her mind. It begins with spontaneous bursts of inspiration, manifesting as quick sketches made with pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, or ink—whatever tools are at hand. These sketches constitute the genesis of her artistic exploration, transporting her beyond the boundaries of time and space, from the realms of yesterday to the landscapes of today.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Derbigny currently resides and works in Burgundy, where she continues to explore the depths of her artistic vision, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery through her evocative creations.
