Description
The line blossoms with instinctive freedom. This composition is in the spirit of raw art. It favors the spontaneity of the gesture over academic rigor. The black ink draws a hybrid silhouette. The contours are simple. They evoke a stylized, almost childlike human form.
The white of the paper breathes between the lines. Splatters of color punctuate the space. Pink and blue bring an airy lightness. These chromatic touches seem to float around the character.
The gaze is direct. It invites immediate introspection. Every detail, like the small heart at the foot of the figure, adds an intimate dimension. The whole captures a moment of daily life treated with naivety.
Created in 2026, this drawing explores the boundary between the conscious and the imaginary. The ink technique allows for a nervous precision. The final rendering oscillates between portrait and figurative abstraction. The work ends with a fluid signature integrated into the composition.
Presentation
Brigitte Derbigny is a contemporary painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in France. Her artistic talent has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions in Spain, Canada, and Brazil.
Brigitte Derbigny's creative process is an introspective journey, a journey from the inside out, taking place in the margins of her mind. It begins with spontaneous bursts of inspiration, manifesting as quick sketches made with pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, or ink—whatever tools are at hand. These sketches constitute the genesis of her artistic exploration, transporting her beyond the boundaries of time and space, from the realms of yesterday to the landscapes of today.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Derbigny currently resides and works in Burgundy, where she continues to explore the depths of her artistic vision, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery through her evocative creations.
