Description
The line comes alive with total freedom. Blue ink dominates the composition, tracing nervous and spontaneous contours. A stylized face emerges, marked by a fixed gaze and lips drawn with precision. The body transforms into an assembly of organic shapes and repetitive patterns.
The aesthetic borrows from the codes of raw art. Each line seems to translate a flow of immediate thought. Small hearts and naive symbols punctuate the white space, creating a dialogue between order and chaos. The structure fragments into several zones, mixing portraits and graphic abstractions.
The drawing explores introspection through the rapid gesture. The paper becomes the terrain of a mental exploration where time disappears. The touches of red and blue bring a rhythmic contrast to the whole. This composition plays on the superposition of visual layers.
The technical execution favors instinct and speed. The final rendering retains the freshness of a sketchbook. The whole ends with ornamental details and cryptic signs spread across the bottom of the sheet.
Presentation
Brigitte Derbigny is a contemporary painter, draftsman, and printmaker based in France. Her artistic talent has gained national and international recognition, with exhibitions in Spain, Canada, and Brazil.
Brigitte Derbigny's creative process is an introspective journey, a journey from the inside out, taking place in the margins of her mind. It begins with spontaneous bursts of inspiration, manifesting as quick sketches made with pencil, marker, ballpoint pen, or ink—whatever tools are at hand. These sketches constitute the genesis of her artistic exploration, transporting her beyond the boundaries of time and space, from the realms of yesterday to the landscapes of today.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Lille, Derbigny currently resides and works in Burgundy, where she continues to explore the depths of her artistic vision, inviting the viewer to embark on a journey of introspection and discovery through her evocative creations.
