Among the lush dahlias, 2026

Galya Symchych

The painting "Among the Lush Dahlias" is executed in a realist style with elements of Impressionism. Its subject centers on a delicate and harmonious interaction within the natural world: a small sparrow and the lush blooms of large dahlias. Created using a classic watercolor technique on paper, the work conveys an incredible sense of lightness, transparency, and a rich variety of hues. The focal point of the composition is a realistically depicted sparrow. It sits motionless in a cozy pose on a slender green stem, as if pausing for a moment to listen to the rustling of the garden. The flower petals are striking in their multi-layered structure and subtle color transitions. The vibrant, orange-yellow centers of the flowers infuse the piece with a sense of sunny warmth. This work is an excellent example of contemporary animal and botanical art, capturing a beautiful and fragile moment of life.
For such a delicate and airy watercolor, a classic presentation—under glass, with a mat and a frame—is the ideal choice. It will not only protect the paper but also visually extend the edges of the painting, giving it room to breathe.
