Description

Duck: Detailed Black and White Animal Artwork for Modern Interiors

Black and white bird artwork invites a place at home with "Duck" (29.7 x 21 x 0.1 cm / 11.69 x 8.27 x 0.04 in, height x width x depth) by Dina Kot. Made with liners on paper, this unique artwork transforms a familiar bird into a calm, almost solemn figure. The empty background removes the usual clues of water and landscape, allowing its presence to stand on its own.

Tiny strokes across the head and neck meet a striking dark body filled with irregular pale shapes. The feather patterns become a decorative structure, balancing visual richness with a simple composition. There is gentle irony in the seriousness of the portrait: an ordinary creature receives extraordinary attention and dignity.

Its compact vertical format brings a distinctive accent to modern interiors, from a neutral living room to a peaceful home office. Collectors who appreciate detailed works on paper and thoughtful animal subjects will find lasting interest in its contrast and rhythm. It makes a personal gift for nature lovers. Offered unframed and in perfect condition, the artwork is hand-signed by the artist on the back.

Presentation

Dina Kot is a contemporary artist. She graduated from Penza State University of Architecture and Construction with a degree in Design in 2014. Her work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions, including Collection at the Savitsky Governor's House Gallery and Images and Images 2.0 at the Literary Museum in Penza. She has also participated in major group exhibitions, including The Art of Labor. Time Forward in Moscow, Cultural Code(t) at Omelchenko Gallery, and the international exhibition Reunion at Nandala Gallery and the Rabindranath Tagore Centre at ICCR in Kolkata, India. Her work is included in the collection of the Savitsky Penza Art Gallery.

Dina works across painting and graphic art, exploring how perception transforms ordinary subjects into something unexpected. Rather than searching for extraordinary themes, she reveals the hidden potential of everyday objects, inviting viewers to see familiar things through a different lens.

Material plays a central role in her practice. In graphic works, she uses precise line and layered symbolism to uncover new meanings, while in painting she builds expressive impasto surfaces that dissolve into abstraction at close range and gradually resolve into recognizable images from a distance. This constant shift between material, image, and perception forms the foundation of her visual language.

Through both mediums, Dina Kot examines the quiet miracle of seeing—how paint, ink, and the act of observation itself can reshape reality and reveal unexpected beauty within the ordinary.
