Description

Internal noise: Fantastical Creatures in Black and White

Black and white surrealist artwork offers collectors an imaginative addition in "Internal noise" (30 x 30 x 0.1 cm / 11.81 x 11.81 x 0.04 in) by Dina Kot. Liner pens on paper build a square world packed with watchful eyes, toothy mouths, and unusual creatures. Dense black marks contrast with off-white shapes, leaving little space for the gaze to rest.

The crowded scene reflects a consciousness filled with thoughts, fears, wishes, and inner voices. Its inhabitants seem to observe, interrupt, and compete, yet no figure takes complete control. Each belongs to the shared chaos without losing its own identity. The mood is anxious but not without irony: the artwork considers acceptance of a busy mind rather than the demand for perfect quiet.

A unique work signed on the back, it is offered unframed. Its detailed surface encourages repeated viewing, appealing to collectors who enjoy surreal imagery with emotional depth. The compact monochrome format suits modern interiors, an eclectic living room, or a creative workspace. As a gift, it offers a personal choice for someone who recognizes both the tension and absurdity of an overfull inner world.

Presentation

Dina Kot is a contemporary artist. She graduated from Penza State University of Architecture and Construction with a degree in Design in 2014. Her work has been presented in numerous solo exhibitions, including Collection at the Savitsky Governor's House Gallery and Images and Images 2.0 at the Literary Museum in Penza. She has also participated in major group exhibitions, including The Art of Labor. Time Forward in Moscow, Cultural Code(t) at Omelchenko Gallery, and the international exhibition Reunion at Nandala Gallery and the Rabindranath Tagore Centre at ICCR in Kolkata, India. Her work is included in the collection of the Savitsky Penza Art Gallery.

Dina works across painting and graphic art, exploring how perception transforms ordinary subjects into something unexpected. Rather than searching for extraordinary themes, she reveals the hidden potential of everyday objects, inviting viewers to see familiar things through a different lens.

Material plays a central role in her practice. In graphic works, she uses precise line and layered symbolism to uncover new meanings, while in painting she builds expressive impasto surfaces that dissolve into abstraction at close range and gradually resolve into recognizable images from a distance. This constant shift between material, image, and perception forms the foundation of her visual language.

Through both mediums, Dina Kot examines the quiet miracle of seeing—how paint, ink, and the act of observation itself can reshape reality and reveal unexpected beauty within the ordinary.
