Description

This artwork presents a mesmerizing cyanotype infusion of nature and imagination. Dominated by deep blue hues, it reveals an elaborate tapestry of ethereal elements. The image invites observers to explore a world where foliage and delicate creatures intertwine harmoniously. Among the intricate patterns, various forms emerge—faint silhouettes of butterflies, leaves, and mystical figures. The high contrast between the white impressions and the striking blue background enhances the dreamlike quality, drawing viewers into an otherworldly realm. The meticulous arrangement suggests both chaos and order, leaving an open-ended narrative that beckons interpretation. The piece stands out for its ability to blend the organic with the fantastical, showcasing richness in detail and texture, characteristic of this photographic technique.

The photos from the series Let Me Tell You a Story show, each one individually, certain themes through strongly narrative visual units. Each photograph is dedicated to a specific representation, a personal story, and is the result of a recorded assemblage composed of parts (objects that have a special meaning or prints made from assimilated, previously taken author's photographs).
The photographic analogue process is almost obsolete in today's age of modern technologies, but at the same time it is especially valuable for that very reason. By combining two photographic methodological principles: old and new photographic techniques, the series Let me tell you a story unites exactly these two approaches - digitally captured photos converted into large-format negatives and analog prints using photographic techniques (cyanotype) from the 19th century.

Dubravka Lazić is an artist and professor of photography whose work combines analog and digital techniques, often exploring the interplay between reality and imagination. Her practice is marked by a poetic visual language that intertwines narrative, memory, and experimentation. Through photography, photograms, and mixed media processes, she creates layered images that evoke intimacy and reflection, while also highlighting the subtle tension between tradition and contemporary approaches.
