Renaissance Play House - Music Room, 2026

Dubravka Lazic

A surreal composition where music transcends time. This photography explores the intersection of classical heritage and miniature reality. A floating figure from the Renaissance era hovers above a collection of scaled instruments. The scene feels like a silent stage. Each element is placed with meticulous precision. A grand piano stands in stark black contrast against the neutral void. A lonely wooden chair holds a cello. A music stand awaits a performer who never arrives. The golden glint of brass instruments adds a touch of nobility to the arrangement. This artwork plays with scale and gravity. It invites the viewer into a dreamlike rehearsal space. The artist blends her academic expertise in fine media with a poetic sensibility. The narrative suggests a dialogue between the physical world and the ethereal spirit of art. Light falls softly across the surfaces. It highlights the textures of wood, polished lacquer, and painted canvas. The result is a contemplative study on harmony and absence. The arrangement ends with the delicate presence of a miniature accordion resting on the floor.

Renaissance Play House is a photographic series that juxtaposes Renaissance drawings and paintings with plastic toy furniture, creating unexpected visual encounters between historical heritage and contemporary consumer culture. Through the deliberate collision of opposing elements—timeless and disposable, refined and playful, sacred and ordinary—the works invite viewers to question established values and cultural narratives. The resulting tension becomes a visual metaphor for transformation, suggesting that perhaps it is time for a new Renaissance.
