The painting “Dessert on the table" by the Ukrainian artist Oksana Sklym is a delightful still life that captures the beauty of everyday pleasures. At the center, a delicate pastry crowned with swirls of cream and fresh blueberries sits on a finely decorated plate. Nearby, a bright red box marked Grand Café and a golden dessert spatula add elegance and contrast to the scene. Through her composition and rich color palette, Sklym conveys more than just the sweetness of the dessert — she evokes a sense of comfort, celebration, and indulgence. The painting highlights how simple moments, like enjoying a cake, can bring joy and light into ordinary life. The bold interplay of red, gold, and soft creamy tones reflects warmth and festivity, turning a small detail of daily life into a poetic expression of pleasure and gratitude.
Presentation
Oksana Sklym
Born in 1995 in Ukraine, lives and works in Ukraine.
She studied at an art school and also worked in computer graphics. By profession a pharmacist, she turned to painting as a form of emotional expression during the war and has been creating daily since 2022.
Works in the technique of oil painting, partly acrylic and mixed media. She prefers a minimal color palette (often duochrome), focusing on portraits, emotions, nature, and abstract moods. Inspired by Andrew Cadima, Yuriy Kulbashnyk, and Leo Lymanenko.
Participant of group and solo exhibitions in Ukraine. Her works are presented on international art platforms and are held in private collections worldwide.
