Description
Sklim22
“Portrait of Different Girls" by Ukrainian artist Oksana Sklym is a vivid celebration of Ukrainian womanhood, individuality, and shared cultural identity. The painting depicts four young women, each rendered in distinct colors—blue, turquoise, green, and violet—symbolizing diversity of character, mood, and life experience. They wear traditional Ukrainian clothing and jewelry, reminding us of deep cultural roots and continuity. The artist uses contrasting tones to emphasize the uniqueness of each figure, yet their similar gestures and serene expressions unite them, creating a sense of harmony. The silver background with black flowing lines enhances the timeless quality of the image, suggesting that, despite differences, these women are bound together by history, tradition, and resilience. Through this work, Sklym conveys both individuality and collective strength—an image of Ukrainian women as carriers of beauty, heritage, and quiet power, especially poignant in the context of preserving cultural identity during times of upheaval.
