La Chasse aux Sanglions, 2013 Embroidered painting (patchwork of tapestry and acrylic painting) signed by the artist stretched on a frame. "Philippe Jacq creates paintings by associating painting and patchwork, sewing which consists in associating several pieces of fabric. He stretches Eastern and Western tapestries on large frames, mostly collected during his travels. By mixing popular imagery and sometimes religious codes, Philippe Jacq questions his past on the other side of the Mediterranean, his present in France but also his place in a fragmented world with multiple influences. artist pursues the quest for buried emotions and hidden meanings ". Presentation
"I hang popular oriental tapestries on large frames," says Philippe Jacq, "Mecca, harem, landscape, lion hunting in the desert ... And I sew pieces of popular Western tapestries on them, hunting with hounds, ballerina, old mill , christ scene ... roses ... often of classical and academic inspiration. The friction between the different motifs presents stories, scenarios like so many often humorous hypotheses. I see these paintings as a metaphor for the current state of the world (mixture of cultures, "ethnic mix", questioning of identity. "
