Description
"Warriors" is a large oil on canvas measuring 36x70 inches. In this work, I have shown a group of powerful horses running on the sand of a desert. I am fascinated by the form, color, and movement of these beautiful horses. The painting captures the raw energy and majestic grace of these creatures as they charge forward, their muscles rippling under their sleek coats. Each horse is painted with meticulous attention to detail, emphasizing their strength and dynamism.
The desert setting provides a stark and dramatic backdrop, highlighting the contrast between the fluid movement of the horses and the static, unyielding nature of the sand. The color palette is rich and varied, with the golden hues of the desert complementing the deep, earthy tones of the horses. The composition conveys a sense of freedom and unbridled spirit, reflecting the untamed beauty of these magnificent animals.
The sweeping strokes and vibrant colors used in "Warriors" aim to evoke a sense of awe and admiration for the power and elegance of horses. The movement is captured through dynamic lines and expressive brushwork, bringing the scene to life and allowing viewers to feel the intensity of the moment. This work not only showcases my fascination with horses but also explores themes of strength, freedom, and the beauty of natural forms in motion.
Presentation
Anand Manchiraju is an Indian artist whose multidisciplinary practice blends painting, photography, and experimental techniques. Influenced by his artist father, he began painting in childhood and later studied at JNTU. His work explores themes including nature, spirituality, daily life, and the human figure. Anand employs oils and acrylics on canvas, as well as unconventional materials such as bromide paper and x-ray film, using photographic chemicals to develop what he terms “photo-paintings.” His style spans impressionistic and abstract modes. Over his career, he has produced thousands of artworks and held numerous solo exhibitions across India. He also served as President of the Andhra Academy of Arts for over 30 years, promoting artistic engagement in the region. Anand’s practice continues to evolve through constant experimentation with mediums and materials, reflecting his commitment to innovation and exploration across traditional and contemporary formats.
