Description
Jean-Michel Basquiat, a prodigious talent who tragically left this world too soon, was a force of nature in the art world of the 1980s. His works were characterized by a unique fusion of street art, graffiti, and neo-expressionism, blending social commentary with raw emotion. Basquiat's influence continues to resonate with artists worldwide, and Ojebola's "Portrait of Basquiat" pays homage to this iconic figure.
In this evocative portrait, Ojebola takes on the formidable task of encapsulating the essence of Basquiat's spirit. The result is a masterful depiction that simultaneously captures Basquiat's complexity and enigmatic charisma. The choice of a portrait format is a nod to the genre in which Basquiat made his mark, inviting viewers to delve deeper into the artist's psyche.
Ojebola's use of color in "Portrait of Basquiat" is both bold and deliberate. He employs a vibrant, almost hypnotic palette that pays homage to Basquiat's characteristic use of vivid colors. The background appears to swirl around the central figure, much like the cacophony of thoughts and emotions that Basquiat often grappled with in his own life and art.
What sets "Portrait of Basquiat" apart is its ability to evoke a profound emotional response from viewers. Ojebola's portrayal of Basquiat's expression strikes a delicate balance between vulnerability and defiance, mirroring the complex persona of the artist himself. It's as if the canvas comes alive with Basquiat's unapologetic passion for art and life.
Emmanuel Ojebola's "Portrait of Basquiat" is more than just a painting; it's a heartfelt tribute to an iconoclast who forever altered the course of contemporary art. Through his skillful brushwork, bold use of color, and deep reverence for his subject, Ojebola invites viewers to connect with the spirit of Basquiat and the enduring impact of his work. This portrait serves as a reminder that art has the power to transcend time and pay homage to those who have left an indelible mark on our cultural landscape.

Emmanuel Ojebola was born in southwest Nigeria Eruwa Oyo state in the late 90s. He had his secondary education in Baptist model High school Sango Eruwa where he developed his interest in the art using the course of his junior secondary school education.
His interest in art came from learning from his then-creative got art teacher (Mr. Segun Adesope) before proceeding to improve his art skills at the Ibarapa Polytechnic Eruwa.
He loves to work with mixed media but majorly with coffee and acrylic and oil. His passion for African black women and children with the childhood care he gets from his mother during his childhood days is got an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
He believes women are Virgo and sees them as gods here on earth. He sees himself as a creator who uses his coffee to create a human figure with a depth and meaningful art piece.

And he sees the likes of Cesar Santos, Eddie Filer, and Oluwole Omofemi as inspirational figures.
