Tactile Memory #151, 2022

Natasha Zupan   New & remarkable Artists

This artwork is an exquisite example of textural exploration and opulence, capturing the eye with its rich and luxurious appearance. The piece is composed of a mosaic-like arrangement of gold-toned elements, each piece carefully layered to create a cohesive yet dynamically uneven surface. The shimmering gold, reminiscent of ancient artifacts or the treasures of bygone eras, lends the work a timeless quality, invoking a sense of history and grandeur. The individual segments overlap with intentional irregularity, introducing a sense of movement and fluidity within the static composition. This interplay of light and shadow across the textured surface produces a captivating visual depth, enhancing the tactile nature of the piece. Subtle hints of verdigris peek through the gold, introducing a contrasting hue that evokes the natural aging process of metals, adding a layer of authenticity and intrigue. The artwork’s irregular outline defies the conventional boundaries of rectangular canvases, suggesting a form that is organic and spontaneous. Its multidimensional surface invites viewers to explore its intricacies, encouraging an intimate interaction with each curve and crevice. This piece not only celebrates the beauty of imperfection but also challenges the viewer to reconsider the relationship between luxury and nature, effectively merging both into a singular, resplendent form.
