Description

This striking artwork is a dynamic charcoal drawing, capturing the raw essence of the human form. The bold, sweeping lines and shadowy contrasts illuminate the figure's robust physique and contemplative expression. The artist's masterful use of light and shadow creates depth, accentuating the muscular contours and intricate details with precision. The large hand is particularly noteworthy, drawing the viewer's attention and adding a sense of power and tension. The figure's reclined pose exudes a sense of vulnerability yet commands presence, inviting a deeper emotional engagement. This piece is a powerful exploration of human strength and introspection, highlighted by the deft use of charcoal’s textured subtlety. The artwork challenges the viewer to appreciate the natural beauty and complexity of the human body, making it an unforgettable visual experience.

Presentation

Celso Castro is a reference in Colombian Caribbean plastic arts who has drawn, painted, sculpted and photographed penises for more than four decades.

In his works, Castro exalts the male genitalia, putting into tension the limits imposed by the sex/gender system that are part of an unquestioned patriarchal and phallocentric order. Most men

The ones he portrays are inhabitants of the Colombian coast, also constructing alternative ways of conceiving Latin American identity.

By breaking taboos on corporality and male sexuality, his work has been censored on many occasions due to public accusations of immorality and pornography.
