Lakelike, 2023

Karin Mikulášová

The composition of this artwork is an exuberant symphony of bold reds, blues, greens, and yellows, which coalesce into a mesmering tapestry that commands attention. One's gaze is immediately drawn to the center of the piece, where a dense cluster of intricate shapes and fluid lines create a visual vortex. These forms resemble blooming flowers and lush vegetation that seem to pulsate with life and motion. The artist employs a masterful use of color gradients and transitions, providing depth and energy that make the elements appear to be in a state of perpetual growth and transformation.

In the background, contrasting hues of softer pastels create a striking backdrop that accentuates the vibrancy of the foreground elements. The layering technique used here adds texture and dimension, giving the impression that the viewer is peering through a semi-translucent veil into an otherworldly garden. Moreover, the dripping and swirling quality of the paint application suggests a spontaneous yet deliberate creative process, adding an element of organic unpredictability. This technique imbues the piece with an almost dream-like quality, where boundaries blur and reality seems fluid.

"Lake - deep, stagnant water... A soothingly mysterious surface protected by plants. Sun and shadow, time stopped. Or is it just a delusion? Find your depths and invite us there."
