The coal painting "Go to Your Goal" is a gripping representation of determination and resilience, inspired by the poignant narrative of a film starring Will Smith. The artwork is a monochromatic composition that conveys a strong emotional connection between two characters, capturing a moment of shared struggle and aspiration. Centered in the piece is a man, presumably embodying the character played by Will Smith, who is depicted with a focused and nurturing demeanor. He is seated and leans toward a child, who is engrossed in reading a book. The man's supportive embrace of the child conveys a sense of protection and guidance. His facial expression is one of encouragement and resolve, reflecting the overarching theme of perseverance in the face of adversity. The child, possibly representing the man's son in the narrative, is depicted with an intensity that belies his young age. His eyes are concentrated on the book, symbolizing the pursuit of knowledge and the importance of education as a pathway to achieving one's goals. The interaction between the two figures suggests a moment of teaching or mentoring, emphasizing the film's message about the importance of parental involvement and the transfer of hope and ambition between generations. The background is softly sketched, allowing the figures to stand out, their presence a testament to the human capacity to overcome challenges. The use of coal as a medium adds a raw, textured quality to the image, highlighting the grit and tenacity required to forge a path toward a better future. The artist shares a deeply personal connection with the film's narrative, drawing parallels between the protagonist's journey and their own experiences in Ukraine. Amidst the turmoil of war and personal hardships such as debt, homelessness, and the responsibilities of parenthood, the artist finds solace and inspiration in the story of a character who triumphs against all odds. The artwork is not only a homage to the film and Will Smith's portrayal but also a reflection of the artist's inner strength and unwavering pursuit of their dreams. "Go to Your Goal" thus resonates as a powerful visual metaphor for the universal quest for success and fulfillment, serving as a beacon of hope and a reminder of the indomitable human spirit.
