This diptych artwork presents a thought-provoking juxtaposition of identity and anonymity. Both pieces showcase groups of well-dressed men, yet their faces are obscured by bold, black rectangles. In each frame, the rectangles display text, creating an intriguing narrative layer. The left panel features men in formal suits, accompanied by subtle, earthy colors, while the right panel displays figures in varying shades of pants, each maintaining an air of elegance. The obscured identities challenge notions of individuality, prompting viewers to consider the societal pressures and expectations that often mask true selves. The clean lines and minimalist composition emphasize a stark contrast between recognition and invisibility, drawing the viewer into a contemplative exploration of modern identity. The choice of framing further enhances the artwork’s refinement, allowing the concept to stand as a compelling commentary on contemporary societal masks.

Fonfria's work explores human behavior and social rules with a critical eye and humor, touching on personal themes such as dreams, fears, and memories. The images come from old magazines, advertising, and photo albums collected at thrift stores. By extracting them from their natural context, he reconstructs them by adding references to popular culture as well as common phrases and insights that come from his Venezuelan childhood.
