Description
SERB1092
The oil painting titled "Evening" captures a serene and mysterious moment at dusk, where a modest house stands surrounded by lush vegetation and embraced by the deepening night. The house, bathed in the warm glow of interior light, becomes a beacon of warmth and comfort against the cool, dark hues of the surrounding landscape. The contrast between the glowing home and the dark, dense trees emphasizes the quiet solitude and peacefulness of rural life. The composition is dominated by rich shades of blue, purple, and green, which convey the calm and stillness of the evening. The towering trees behind the house create a natural frame, adding a sense of protection and tranquility to the scene. Their dark silhouettes contrast beautifully with the soft light emanating from the house, highlighting the coziness of the home in an otherwise shadowy environment. The use of bold, textured brushstrokes adds a dynamic quality to the painting, making the foliage and light feel alive and full of movement. The garden in front of the house, painted in warm oranges, reds, and yellows, appears to glow in the fading light, symbolizing life, growth, and the nurturing spirit of home.Through "Evening," the artist conveys a message of peace, security, and the importance of finding solace in simple moments. The painting invites viewers to reflect on the comforting presence of home, especially during times of uncertainty or solitude. The interplay of light and shadow suggests that even in the darkest moments, warmth and comfort can always be found within. This work celebrates the beauty of quiet evenings and the enduring charm of rural life. It captures the essence of finding peace and balance in nature, reminding viewers that even as night falls, the light of home remains a source of warmth and hope.
Presentation
Born in 1960 in Konotop, Sumy Region, Ukraine.
1984 - Graduated from Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School (Department of Art and Graphics).
Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.
Held the position of Chief Artist in Konotop.
Since 2000 - Independent artist.
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
