Description
SERB1114
The painting titled "The Last Days of Summer" captures a serene landscape scene filled with vibrant colors and the subtle transition from summer to autumn. The composition focuses on a sunlit hillside, with a tall, solitary tree standing prominently in the foreground. The artist uses dynamic brushstrokes and a bold color palette to convey both the energy of nature and the peacefulness of the countryside. The sky takes up a large portion of the painting, painted in shades of soft blue, lavender, and pink, with patches of white clouds that seem to drift lazily across the horizon. The light from the sky bathes the landscape in warm tones, suggesting a late afternoon in early autumn when the sun is still strong but the air carries a hint of the coming seasonal change. The grassy hillside in the foreground is painted in bright greens and blues, reflecting the lingering vitality of summer. However, hints of yellow and brown on the trees and grass foreshadow the approaching fall. The contrast between the vibrant greens and the earthy tones creates a dynamic interplay that symbolizes the changing of the seasons. The centerpiece of the painting is the tall tree, its branches reaching toward the sky. The tree stands as a symbol of resilience and endurance, having witnessed the passage of time and the changing of many seasons. It adds a sense of structure and stability to the composition while highlighting the natural beauty of the landscape. Through "The Last Days of Summer," the artist conveys a sense of nostalgia and reflection. The painting evokes a moment of stillness, inviting the viewer to appreciate the fleeting beauty of nature as summer transitions to autumn. The scene reminds us of the passage of time and the importance of savoring the present before it slips away. The combination of warm and cool tones reflects the balance between the end of one season and the beginning of another. The artist's expressive brushwork and vibrant color choices emphasize the emotional tone of the painting, creating a sense of joy and tranquility. "The Last Days of Summer" encourages viewers to take a moment to reflect on the simple beauty of nature and the inevitable changes that come with the passage of time. It celebrates both the energy of life and the quiet moments of contemplation that nature provides.
Presentation
Born in 1960 in Konotop, Sumy Region, Ukraine.
1984 - Graduated from Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School (Department of Art and Graphics).
Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.
Held the position of Chief Artist in Konotop.
Since 2000 - Independent artist.
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
