Description
SERB 1148
The painting "Return of the Bird" portrays a vibrant spring scene, symbolizing renewal and the return of life after the long, harsh winter. In the center of the composition, a majestic stork is depicted gracefully landing in a small stream. Its wide, powerful wings, painted in a dramatic contrast of black and white, create a striking focal point against the rich greens of the grass and the purple and pink hues of the trees in the background. The rippling water beneath the bird reflects its elegant form, adding depth and a sense of realism to the scene.
The surrounding landscape is filled with the fresh colors of early spring. The vivid greens of the grass and the budding trees convey a sense of new life bursting forth from the earth. The soft lilac and pink tones of the trees suggest the awakening of nature and the promise of warmer days. A small farmhouse in the distance, nestled among the trees, hints at rural life continuing its timeless rhythm, harmoniously connected with nature.
The stork, a traditional symbol of rebirth, good luck, and new beginnings in many cultures, serves as a metaphor in this work. Its return marks the end of winter and the beginning of a hopeful season of growth and prosperity. The artist captures the moment of the bird's landing with dynamic brushstrokes, evoking movement and vitality. The reflections in the water add a tranquil element to the painting, balancing the energy of the scene with a peaceful serenity.
Through "Return of the Bird," the artist seeks to convey themes of hope, renewal, and the enduring cycle of life. The painting invites viewers to appreciate the beauty of nature's transitions and reminds them of the joy and optimism that accompany the arrival of spring. It is a celebration of life's resilience and the continuous process of rebirth, encouraging the viewer to embrace change with positivity and grace.

Born in 1960 in Konotop, Sumy Region, Ukraine.
1984 - Graduated from Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School (Department of Art and Graphics).
Worked as a drawing and drafting teacher, painting and wood carving instructor, artist-designer.
Held the position of Chief Artist in Konotop.
Since 2000 - Independent artist.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
