Description
AAA3708
The painting "City Embankment" is a vibrant and expressive oil on cardboard, capturing the lively atmosphere of a seaside promenade against the dramatic backdrop of towering mountains. The artist uses thick impasto strokes to create texture and depth, bringing the scene to life with dynamic movement and rich color. The embankment, paved with warm earthy tones, stretches along the waterfront, populated by numerous figures enjoying a walk under the bright sun. The people are painted in quick, impressionistic dabs, giving a sense of motion and liveliness, as if they are engaged in conversations, leisurely strolling, or simply absorbing the picturesque surroundings.
The foreground prominently features an ornate street lamp, its black silhouette standing tall against the bright architecture and deep blue mountains. The lamppost acts as a vertical anchor in the composition, guiding the viewer's eye toward the receding perspective of the promenade. The buildings along the embankment are painted in soft pastel hues, their facades illuminated by the warm sunlight. The strokes capturing the buildings are loose and expressive, yet they clearly convey the elegance and charm of a coastal city.
In the background, the deep, rich blues of the mountains contrast sharply with the warmth of the city, creating a stunning sense of depth and grandeur. The mountains appear almost sculpted, with varying shades of blue and purple, emphasizing their rugged texture. This contrast between urban life and the majesty of nature is central to the painting's impact, portraying a harmonious coexistence between the two.
Through "City Embankment," the artist conveys a feeling of relaxation, warmth, and movement. The painting captures the charm of a vibrant seaside town where people come together to enjoy simple pleasures—an evening stroll, the sea breeze, and the ever-changing light. The expressive brushstrokes and bold contrasts reflect the energy of city life while also evoking a sense of timeless tranquility. The piece invites the viewer to step into the scene, feel the sun on their skin, and experience the vibrant atmosphere of the embankment, where life unfolds against the stunning backdrop of mountains and sea.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
