The painting "Fortress by the Sea" portrays a majestic stronghold standing resiliently atop a rugged cliff, overlooking the shimmering waters below. The artist uses thick, expressive brushstrokes and an impasto technique to add depth and texture, making the scene feel alive and full of history. The fortress, painted in earthy reds and ochres, dominates the composition, its weathered walls glowing in the sunlight, contrasting with the cooler blues and greens of the surrounding landscape. The cliff on which the fortress stands is depicted with bold strokes of warm and cool tones, reflecting the interplay of light and shadow on the rocky surface. The bright patches of green suggest vegetation clinging to the steep incline, adding a sense of wild beauty to the scene. The cliff appears almost sculpted by nature, reinforcing the idea that the fortress is an enduring sentinel against time and the elements. The sea, occupying the lower portion of the canvas, is painted with fluid, dynamic strokes, capturing the gentle movement of waves lapping against the rocks. The reflection of the fortress in the water adds depth and tranquility to the composition, while the use of blues, grays, and subtle hints of white convey the freshness and clarity of the coastal air. The sky, with its soft pastel hues, suggests a moment of calm, possibly in the late afternoon, when the sun casts a warm glow on the stone walls.Through "Fortress by the Sea," the artist conveys a sense of history, solitude, and strength. The fortress, perched high above the water, represents resilience and endurance, a silent witness to the passage of time. It evokes a feeling of mystery—who built it, what battles it has seen, and what stories its walls could tell. The painting invites the viewer to reflect on the grandeur of human-made structures coexisting with the raw beauty of nature, a harmonious balance between civilization and the untamed forces of the sea.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
