Description
AAA3756
The oil painting on cardboard, titled "Summer Holidays in the Village", captures the warmth, simplicity, and nostalgic charm of rural life. The artist employs thick, expressive brushstrokes and a rich impasto technique to create a vibrant, textured scene filled with dappled sunlight, lush greenery, and the earthy tones of village houses. The composition leads the viewer into a cozy courtyard where a person is engaged in daily chores, evoking a sense of tranquility and connection with nature. The foreground is dominated by patches of bright sunlight and deep shadows, emphasizing the natural movement of light through the trees. The golden grass and sunlit earth contrast with the cool greens of the foliage, enhancing the sense of a warm summer day. The artist's use of texture in the grass and trees gives the painting a lively, organic feel, making the leaves seem as if they are gently swaying in the breeze. The middle ground features a small village yard enclosed by reddish-brown brick houses, their doors and windows slightly ajar, suggesting daily activity and the presence of life within. The rough, textured walls of the buildings create a sense of age and history, reinforcing the feeling of a well-loved home. A figure, painted in soft blues and purples, is seen working near a table, perhaps washing or preparing food. This small but significant detail adds a human presence, bringing warmth and authenticity to the scene. The background consists of softly blended trees and a pale blue sky with hints of warm yellow, capturing the hazy glow of a summer afternoon. The sky's subtle gradation of colors enhances the peaceful atmosphere, making the entire composition feel relaxed and inviting.Through "Summer Holidays in the Village", the artist conveys a deep appreciation for the simple joys of rural life—the shade of fruit trees, the warmth of a sunlit courtyard, and the quiet routine of daily chores. The painting evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminding the viewer of childhood summers spent in the countryside, where time moves slowly and the air is filled with the scents of nature. It is a celebration of the beauty found in everyday moments, an invitation to step into the scene and experience the peaceful, sun-drenched serenity of village life.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
