Description
This striking artwork features two figures dressed in red, energized by a warm palette dominated by flamboyant oranges and reds. The bold and expressive painting technique is characterized by vigorous brushstrokes that infuse the scene with vibrant energy. The facial features appear playful, capturing an essence of joy and movement. The artist integrates abstract elements that lend fascinating depth and texture to the background, creating a striking contrast with the central figures. This marriage of figuration and abstraction invites the viewer to freely interpret. The work, dated 2011, exudes a festive yet contemplative atmosphere, highlighting an exceptional craftsmanship in the representation of human emotion. A discreet signature in the lower right corner attests to the authenticity and contemporaneity of the piece.
Presentation
...Art responds to my natural need to communicate and my mirror of human life…
ShuJie Wang was born in Jinhu, China on August 13, 1983 and she lived in Suzhou, near Shanghai, until her arrival in France in April 2023, the year she became my wife. I have known her work since 2017 and I have been representing her work in France since 2018 and it is a great honor to introduce you to an exceptional artist!
...just do it…
Three little words that say everything about her artistic energy and her 'drive'; she is self-taught and above all very authentic in her expression.
...emotions…
She is the artist who manages to distill the essence and emotions of interactions between human beings in everyday life. These works are dotted with love, joy and happiness but in other works just as much anger, mistrust and pain. They represent the feelings that we all encounter in real life.
...citizen of the world…
ShuJie was born in China and until 2023 she lived in her country, but her view of the world is surprisingly cosmopolitan. Her subjects, inspirations and expressions express her curiosity to know the world. She likes to take her own place in the artistic world and ShuJie is very explicit in her vision on the place of women in society.
...a glimpse of his work…
It is not surprising, in view of the above information, that we find a central place for people in her paintings. We can see real portraits, situations of couples and families, scenes of well-being at home and even in her urban landscapes, people take a central place. Another aspect of ShuJie's work is nature and animals and in some paintings she amplifies the strength of her expression by using repetition, like many trees, flowers, cyclists, animals, giving birth to another dimension in her painting.
…techniques…
ShuJie works mainly in oil painting on her canvases using painting knives but she is also very skilled in watercolor on paper. Color is the main tool giving her control over emotion and atmosphere and her very wide palette brings us into very varied worlds.
...collectors…
ShuJie started to make a name for herself among contemporary art collectors in Shanghai in 2016/2017 when a gallery from Vienna organized a presence at Shanghai art fair, followed by an exhibition at De Heart Center in the city. I have been showing her work in France since the beginning of 2018 and she is starting to have a clientele who love her work, especially since her arrival in France in 2023.
...acknowledgement…
In 2022, during the autumn fair in Falaise, ShuJie's work was honored with the public prize, which confirms the bond that exists between the artist and her admirers.
