Chance, 2025

Pascal Courcelles

Edition 1/1.

Unique piece – signed by the artist.

Bursting with energy, rhythm, and color, “Chance" (2025) by Pascal Courcelles is a celebration of spontaneity and intuition — a large-scale mixed media work that transforms the canvas into a vibrant field of expressive possibility. It is a joyful affirmation of gesture, chromatic freedom, and the beauty that emerges when control is replaced by trust in the moment.

The surface is densely layered, with rich, tactile impastos in a kaleidoscope of colors: pinks, turquoise, lemon yellow, vermilion, cobalt, and violet coalesce in a rhythm that feels organic, almost musical. Every section of the canvas is alive with contrasts — warm and cool, opaque and luminous — yet there is a surprising coherence that binds the composition together. This is a painting that doesn't impose; it invites.

“Chance" is a one-of-a-kind composition (edition 1/1), created through a fully intuitive, process-based approach. There are no repetitions or reproductions — this is a singular visual event that unfolded through Courcelles' direct interaction with color and material. It reflects the artist's ongoing exploration of matter as both subject and medium.

This work captures a mature phase of Courcelles' artistic evolution. With a career spanning decades and numerous international exhibitions, he is known for his unique ability to blend abstract expression with physical materiality. “Chance" exemplifies this balance — it's spontaneous, yet refined; exuberant, yet meditative. It has the rare quality of being both a statement piece and a contemplative presence in space.

The surface is thick, rich, and highly tactile — almost sculptural in areas — creating subtle shadows and highlights as light moves across the canvas. In excellent condition, the work is professionally stretched and ready to hang. While photographs capture its vibrancy, the full experience of “Chance" is felt in proximity: the dimensionality of the paint, the emotional resonance of the color, and the quiet rhythm behind the chaos.

Ideal for collectors drawn to expressive abstraction, chromatic complexity, and the dialogue between painting and object. “Chance" is more than a painting — it is a record of a moment, a physical expression of presence and possibility. A powerful centerpiece for any contemporary collection.
