The painting "By the Evening in Nature" captures the serene beauty of a quiet riverside as dusk approaches. The scene is bathed in the soft, diffused light of the setting sun, which casts a delicate glow over the calm water and the surrounding lush greenery. The river, acting as a mirror, reflects the sky and trees, creating a tranquil atmosphere that invites contemplation and peace. The composition is divided into distinct elements, each contributing to the overall harmony of the scene. The foreground showcases gently swaying grasses and reeds, painted with expressive brushstrokes that suggest a gentle evening breeze. Their warm earth tones contrast with the cool blues and greens of the water, adding depth and texture to the painting. Some blades of grass extend into the water, slightly blurred, enhancing the sense of immersion in nature's quiet beauty. The river, a central focus of the painting, is depicted with subtle variations in color and tone. The reflections on the surface create a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow, with delicate ripples catching the last golden rays of sunlight. The artist masterfully captures the way light dances on the water, using a mix of soft blended strokes and sharp highlights to convey movement and depth. There is a rhythmic quality to the reflections, as they shimmer and shift in response to the unseen currents. On the left side, overhanging branches from a tree lean into the composition, their leaves painted with a rich palette of deep greens and hints of warm gold. The foliage is rendered with an impressionistic touch, where individual leaves dissolve into a vibrant mass of color, giving the sense of nature in motion. The positioning of the tree helps to frame the scene, drawing the viewer's eye toward the expanse of water and the distant horizon. Across the river, the landscape unfolds with dense trees and bushes painted in deep reds, greens, and blues, marking the transition from the vibrancy of daylight to the subdued tones of evening. These trees, some catching the last glimmers of sunlight on their branches, create a striking contrast against the cool, fading sky. The use of rich, dark hues in this area adds depth, pulling the viewer further into the painting and emphasizing the vastness of the natural space.
