Two Reflections, 2017

Igor Galan

Igor Galan's Changing Room captures a fleeting, intimate moment with striking painterly energy. This 50x40 cm oil on canvas from 2017 places two nearly identical women – or mirrored versions of one woman – within the threshold of an ornate interior. They are partially undressed, perhaps in a fitting room or private domestic space, their gazes turned away, absorbed in something unseen. The background hints at architectural grandeur: frescoes, arches, and fluted columns dissolve into textured abstraction, giving the scene a dreamlike tension between modern sensuality and historical elegance.

With vigorous brushstrokes, tactile surfaces, and luminous color harmonies, Galan creates a narrative that invites questions about vulnerability, self-perception, and the rituals of femininity. Are these women preparing for the outside gaze, or simply for themselves? Is this a commentary on identity, duality, or routine?

This emotionally layered work exemplifies Galan's ability to combine figurative intimacy with symbolic atmosphere. A rare piece of expressive realism infused with psychological nuance and soft irony.
