L'évasion, 2025

Marie-Aude Molin

Marie-Aude Molin continues her graphic reinterpretation of the city of Sète, faithful to her "Fishing Port" series, where reality is diluted in a universe made of bold colors and reinvented perspectives. Through the figure of the lifting bridge, an emblematic element of the Sète landscape, the artist orchestrates a scene where architecture and movement respond to each other in a single impulse.

The bridge, lifted in an almost choreographic gesture, becomes the axis of a seesaw: between left bank and right bank, between human activity and aquatic circulation, between structure and freedom. The title "L'évasion" does not simply announce but rather a breath, a suspended moment that the artist freezes with his customary lightness.

The characters, drawn in a refined manner, fit naturally into the scene, accompanying the comings and goings of the boats and the light play between fish and fishing lines. True to her style, Marie-Aude Molin favors a fluid and colorful composition, without seeking to tell a precise story. The shapes are deliberately irregular, the perspectives offset, which gives the whole a lively and relaxed atmosphere.
