The oil painting on cardboard titled "Sailing away on a yacht" captures a fleeting yet powerful moment in the life of the sea — a scene rich in movement, texture, and the unspoken promises of distant horizons. Through expressive brushwork and a vibrant palette, the artist offers a vivid portrayal of a rocky coastline kissed by sunlight, where two elegant sailing vessels rest upon the sparkling, restless waters of a hidden bay. At the center of the composition, the main yacht floats with poised grace. Its white hull gleams in the sunlight, while the bold blue of its sail covering echoes the hues of the open sea. The tall masts, painted with confident vertical strokes, cut through the air with authority, guiding the viewer's eye upward to a small flag fluttering dramatically at the top — a detail that brings motion and a sense of wind to the stillness of the canvas. The yacht is anchored near a few bright orange buoys, whose vivid tones contrast delightfully with the deep aquamarines and ceruleans of the water beneath. Behind the yacht, another sailboat dances closer to the rocky shore. Its white sail is caught in the wind, curving and shimmering with energy. Painted in a freer, more gestural style, it introduces a dynamic rhythm into the composition — a sense that time is shifting, that one boat is ready to leave while the other may linger. Together, these boats evoke both freedom and tranquility, inviting the viewer to imagine setting out across the sea or simply enjoying the stillness of the moment. The rocky cliffs that frame the background are a celebration of earthy tones — ochres, rusts, and olive greens mixed with the raw sienna of sunlit stone. The bold, angular brushstrokes give the cliffs a sculptural presence, their forms rising dramatically behind the moored vessels. Above them, the sky is filled with tension and light — stormy grays sweep across patches of luminous blue, broken by dramatic white clouds that catch the sun's glow. The sky feels alive, full of both possibility and unpredictability, as seagulls glide effortlessly through the wind, dotting the air with their soft white forms.
