The Oil painting on Cardboard titled “Fishing on the lakes" reveals a sweeping panorama of serene waters interwoven with lush vegetation, creating a landscape that feels both endless and intimate. The artist captures the quiet majesty of nature with bold, expressive brushstrokes, layering colors in a way that emphasizes both depth and vitality. At first glance, the canvas radiates a sense of calm, where scattered lakes glisten in the light and merge with the endless expanse of the horizon. Yet, upon closer observation, one notices the subtle dynamism in the play of colors and strokes, echoing the hidden activity of life within this seemingly tranquil setting. The lakes, painted with a palette of rich blues and turquoise, thread their way across the landscape like fragments of the sky mirrored on the earth. They shine with a reflective quality, contrasting against the surrounding patches of green and orange vegetation. The brushstrokes suggest rippling surfaces, still waters broken occasionally by gentle movement, as if hinting at the presence of fish beneath or the unseen hand of a fisherman casting his line. These bodies of water become the soul of the painting, pulling the viewer's gaze into their depths and offering a visual metaphor for quiet contemplation and patience—the qualities tied inherently to the act of fishing. Surrounding the lakes, the vegetation pulses with life, painted in a spectrum of greens, from deep emerald shadows to lighter, almost glowing tones. The artist uses thick, layered strokes to depict dense clusters of trees and shrubs, adding texture and density to the canvas. In places, bursts of warm orange and red suggest the seasonal transition of autumn, hinting at the quiet passage of time within the landscape. These fiery tones contrast beautifully with the cooler greens and blues, giving the scene both warmth and vibrancy while emphasizing nature's cycles. The foreground introduces a strip of vivid orange and purple tones that frame the view, grounding the composition. This splash of color draws the eye downward before leading it once more toward the distant lakes and sky, establishing a rhythm of movement for the observer. It is here that one senses the implied presence of the fisherman, unseen yet central to the narrative of the work. The viewer imagines a solitary figure somewhere among these waters, casting a line into the depths, enveloped by silence and nature's embrace.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
