Description
Chris (2022) – Oil on Canvas, 80 × 70 cm
(2022) is a striking abstract oil painting from the series . Measuring 80 × 70 cm, the work exemplifies the artist's exploration of layered greens and organic structures as a metaphor for nature's energy and complexity.
The canvas is built up through successive layers of oil paint, creating both luminous transparency and earthy density. The surface carries textured traces reminiscent of leaves, roots, or atmospheric formations, giving the painting a relief-like, tactile presence. This physicality blurs the line between painting and sculpture, inviting the viewer to perceive not only color but also texture and material.
Shades of green dominate the palette, ranging from bright, almost translucent passages to deep, shadowed zones. Subtle accents of yellow and brown enrich the composition, creating a visual rhythm that suggests movement and transformation. The interplay between light and darkness evokes natural phenomena: shifting clouds, the turbulence of a storm, or the calm that follows.
The title, , connects abstraction to human experience. Like all works in the series, it bears a common first name, underscoring the idea that natural forces and human identity are inseparable. In this sense, becomes both a landscape and a portrait—an abstract reflection of the dynamic balance between fragility and strength.
As part of , functions as an autonomous artwork but also resonates within the conceptual framework of the series. It demonstrates how contemporary abstraction can embody the complexity of the natural world, while offering each viewer the freedom to interpret and connect with it on a personal level.
