The Oil painting Cardboard titled "A cow near the house" captures a warm and intimate glimpse of rural life, where simplicity and closeness to nature are presented with expressive brushstrokes and vibrant color harmonies. The scene is set in front of a rustic countryside home, its walls rendered in muted ochre tones with a blue-framed window that draws immediate attention. The window, slightly shaded, reflects the sky and greenery, while acting as a backdrop to the central subject of the composition—a cow, standing calmly in the lush grass beside the house. The cow, painted in rich earthy shades of brown, deep red, and black with patches of white, becomes the living embodiment of the village's rhythm and connection to land and animals. The bold strokes used to render its body give it texture and dimension, suggesting both the physical weight of the animal and its quiet presence. Despite the apparent spontaneity of the brushwork, the animal's form is recognizable and detailed enough to convey the reality of daily life in a farming household. Its posture, slightly turned toward the flowers, radiates a sense of calmness and contentment, as though it is at home in this intimate corner of the farmyard. Surrounding the cow, lush vegetation blooms in abundant colors. Tall stems with white, yellow, and hints of orange blossoms rise behind and beside the animal, creating a vivid tapestry of natural beauty. These flowers, painted with quick yet deliberate dabs of the brush, infuse the painting with a joyful liveliness. Their brightness contrasts with the darker hues of the cow, highlighting the harmony of nature and the vibrancy of the rural environment. The greenery is layered with strokes of emerald, olive, and lighter lime, capturing both the depth of shadows and the sparkle of sunlight filtering through leaves. The composition emphasizes not only the cow but also the relationship between human habitation and nature. The fence visible in the background, the modest wall of the house, and the blooming plants reveal the balance between cultivated space and untamed growth. This balance reflects the way villagers live closely with their animals, sharing space and creating a symbiotic existence where the house, garden, and livestock are inseparable parts of daily life.
