Description
"Those Who Watch" — Two New Portraits by Sabine Danzé
Known for her large-format works imbued with the energy of gesture, Sabine Danzé here explores the intimacy of the small. In these tightly framed faces, another presence emerges: deliberately enlarged, almost disproportionate eyes, as if the gaze had taken over all the space left for the world.
A way of reminding us — in the manner of symbolist portraits or expressionism — that the soul sometimes overflows the contours of reality.
These two portraits belong to "Those Who Watch":
those who observe, who question,
those whose fragility speaks before words.
Despite the small format, it still bears all of Sabine Danzé's signature: the vibrancy of the colours, the transparencies, the raw tenderness of a humanity that surfaces.
Presentation
Sabine Danzé is an artist who remains confidential being followed by her collectors and featured quite seldom in gallery shows. Despite her rather eclectic series -- very different from each other in terms of style or subject -- a well-trained eye might recognize her work thanks to the common denominator of her paintings: the dexterity and the power of her brush stroke.
She is ambidextrous and she paints with both hands at the same time, in a wild and sweet style, accompanied by electro sounds. If her supports, her subjects or the technique itself change, her brush stroke stays the same.
In just a few lines, a body takes shape, a deep look, near and far, and all of her sensitivity breaks out. Sabine Danzé is an who is comfortable with multiple supports: she is a painter, performer, street artist, photographer, digital artist. More than a name, she is a whole universe waiting to be discovered.
