Description
This modern artwork captivates with its complexity and dynamic energy. The canvas, saturated with vibrant colors, intertwines geometric and organic forms, creating a visual symphony. Curved and angular lines interlock, forming a labyrinthine network. Splashes of sunny yellow contrast with touches of deep blue and intense red, evoking a harmonious tension. The central, vortex-like motif draws the eye toward a mysterious focal point. The whole evokes an exploration of order and chaos, uniting mathematical rigor with spontaneous expression. The work is part of the solo exhibition "Abstraction" in November 2025 at the Feng Shang Gallery.
Presentation
Marie Pernet is a contemporary French artist whose work explores the delicate balance between chaos and harmony. Her artistic practice reveals a keen sense of composition, where signs, flat areas, and marks instinctively accumulate on her canvases. Guided by daylight and her mood, she initially allows her gestures to flow freely, letting the canvas take shape. After a period of rest, she returns with a critical eye, balancing the initial chaos.
Marie views abstract painting as a unique source of freedom, offering a space where she can embrace spontaneity while maintaining control. Her work juxtaposes order and chaos, blending curves and straight lines, creating a dynamic tension between the deliberate and the unpredictable. Her paintings often present a hybrid approach, incorporating techniques from painting, graffiti, and collage.
The vibrant, energetic colors of her work evoke a connection to graffiti, with spray paint, random inscriptions, and abstract calligraphy contributing to her visual language.
