Description

This sketch, painted by the artist from plain air near Maksimkovo, is a dramatic landscape at sunset, capturing the approach of rain on the slope of the day and the transition from day to night. The sky, dominated by a tense interplay of soft yellows and deep grays, heralds an impending change in the weather. The golden tones of the sunset contrast perfectly with the darker, gloomy clouds, creating a compositional accent. In the foreground, a lush green meadow is depicted, divided by a barely noticeable dirt road leading to the distant horizon. Dense thickets of trees in the middle and far background enliven the scene, giving it depth and texture. The artist's use of bold brushstrokes and a rich color palette creates a vivid sense of impressionism and movement. This painting uniquely conveys the fleeting beauty of twilight, evoking a sense of calm and contemplation. Her skill lies in the subtle combination of light and shadow, emphasizing the enduring but fleeting beauty of nature.
