Description
Here is a painting from 2013 that was professionally framed in Paris. (The wooden frame is silver on the front and black on the sides.)
We can already observe recurring elements that still appear in my compositions today (cabins, horse, vegetation, woman).
This work combines abstraction and figuration through a play of shapes and colors dominated by contrasting tones; it presents a black equine silhouette standing out against a background nuanced with grey and white.
In the foreground, a splash of vibrant pink immediately draws the eye, creating an intriguing visual dialogue between the softness of the fabric and the robustness of the horse. Touches of green and blue add an organic dimension, evoking a mysterious and dreamlike landscape. Varied textures enrich the composition. This painting invites reflection on the duality and balance between nature and imagination, offering a stimulating and immersive visual experience.
Presentation
Marta Grassi is a visual artist born in 1961 in Montevideo, Uruguay. She has lived and worked in Paris for the last 30 years.
Marta Grassi is a inventive artist, who does not limit her practice to a particular style. Her works oscillates between painting and drawing, figuration and abstraction in harmonious and colorful canvases. She plays with the colors and the materials in a real search for experimentation. The interaction with her support is essential in her work, since it is her who guides her brush. In fact, the artist does not try to completely master her gestures: she lets chance interfere, conferring thus great freedom to the medium itself. Her singular and very personal work is poetic and anti-conformist. Coming from her imagination, they incite dreaming. The viewer is seized by this delicate and enigmatic universe, where he is free to interpret what he sees.
Marta Grassi exhibits her work regularly since 2005.
