Isabelle Lebret  

Isabelle Lebret is a French painter based near Toulouse. Born in 1964 into a family with artistic roots, art has been a part of her life from a very early age. She chose the path of restoring paintings, an activity she now shares with pictorial creation.

She is a member of the Taylor Foundation and a member of the French Artists Society.

Modernity and classical heritage

The oil is used in successive layers of increasing density and precision. It allows for subtle blending and transitions from shadow to light, by working with a brush in wet and semi-wet paint.

The geography of bodies is revealed in monochrome; blue sublimates it.

The use of a single color in chiaroscuro and the simplicity of the background highlights the reliefs of these "body-landscapes".

The unreal prism of the color blue induces a distance from the subject, while emanating its soothing luminosity.

Its complementary color sometimes comes into play in juxtaposition and transparency, reinforcing while, paradoxically, tempering (modulating) its brilliance.
