Description
Mixed media on canvas Capelán's work stands out for its rigorous handling of diverse artistic techniques and procedures, ranging from drawing to installation, including painting, printmaking, photography, and the manipulation of objects. The variety of expressive resources is matched by the multiplicity of interpretations his work evokes in the viewer. Capelán is a nomadic artist who transcends the boundaries of artistic languages as a way of questioning and crossing other boundaries: the political, economic, and cultural ones that compartmentalize our worldview. Carlos Capelán develops an artistic production with an anthropological bent and a great sensitivity to contemporary issuesrelated to the political, the social, and the territorial working in diverse techniques and formatspainting, drawing, printmaking, objects, performances, photography, installationstransforming his artworks into "habitats" characterized by cultural hybridization and synthesis. Provenance Fernando Quintana gallery.
