Description
A deep blue dominates this graphic composition. The white line, sharp and precise, cuts hybrid shapes on the dark background.
A winged creature seems to cross the central space. Its contours suggest fluid, almost aerial movement. Below, a fish with ochre tones brings a marked chromatic contrast.
The top of the leaf reveals geometric structures and eroded areas. These textures evoke the work of matter and the wear of time. Vertical lines recall fragments of nature or abstract architectures.
At the bottom of the format, red organic shapes align. They evoke roots or terrestrial silhouettes anchored in the ground.
The balance between solid areas and scratched areas creates a sustained visual rhythm. The technique reveals traces of engraving and plays of transparency. This piece belongs to a limited edition series. It is distinguished by its rigorous handling of light and contrasts. The whole ends with a discreet signature in the bottom right corner.
Presentation
Chahab was born in 1951 in Tehran, residing in France since 1974, he lives and works in Nay (Pyrénées-Atlantiques).
Graduated from the Arts décoratifs of Nice, and from the École des Beaux-Arts of Aix-en-Provence, student of Henri Goetz for carburum engraving technique.
Painter, engraver, and sculptor, he plays with registers of various materials and textures. Heir to a dual culture, he likes to evoke through the imagination the ancient sites of his native Iran and during his Western training, his attraction to surrealism leads him to recreate a teeming universe of forms and colors.
