Description

The Oil painting Cardboard titled "Mountain meadows" captures the serene and majestic beauty of nature, where towering evergreens rise against the soft backdrop of distant hills. The artist uses a palette of cool greens, purples, and blues, layering them with confident, textured strokes that emphasize both the ruggedness of the land and the ethereal atmosphere of the mountains. This composition feels both grounded in the strength of the earth and lifted by the dreamlike tones of the surrounding mist and sky, evoking the timeless allure of highland landscapes. In the foreground, the viewer is immediately drawn to a lush meadow painted with a vibrant mixture of greens and violet hues. These colors merge into each other, suggesting a carpet of wildflowers or grasses swaying gently in the mountain breeze. The brushstrokes are thick and expressive, almost sculptural, capturing not only the variety of tones but also the tactile sense of growth and abundance. The interplay of light across this field gives it vitality, as if the land itself were breathing with the cycle of the seasons. The middle ground shifts into rolling green slopes that guide the viewer's gaze upward toward the shadowy edges of the forest. These slopes are lighter in tone, painted with fresh greens that convey both openness and transition, as though inviting the eye to journey deeper into the scene. The artist places special emphasis on the soft incline of the hill, which acts as a natural bridge between the colorful meadow and the dense, darker forms of the trees. This layering builds depth, leading the viewer smoothly into the heart of the composition. The forest is presented with striking contrast. The tall, slender evergreens painted in dark, almost blackened strokes stand against the lighter background, their vertical lines cutting dramatically into the landscape. The impasto application of paint creates strong textures that mimic the rough, resilient character of the trees themselves. These forms suggest endurance, growth, and a sense of mystery, as they conceal much within their dense canopies. Their placement also balances the openness of the meadow, enclosing the scene in a sense of natural harmony and rhythm.

Works by Boris Serdyuk are held in museums in the Sumy and Chernihiv regions, as well as in private collections in Ukraine, European countries, the USA, Israel, and other countries.
In 2018, the artist entered the global art space of the creative platform in New York, where seven of his works were included in the catalog "Painting & Graphics."
Currently lives and works in Kremenchuk, Poltava Region.
Took his first steps in the world of visual arts within the walls of his local school, then studied at Yuriev-Polsky Pedagogical School. After graduation, he returned to his homeland and started working as a drawing and painting teacher.
Later, he realized that for an artist, creative freedom is essential. Thus, after seventeen years of teaching, he left the profession to focus on his creative work. The artist is content to have the opportunity to engage in his beloved craft, which he considers the meaning of his life.
His journey had its ups and downs, victories in competitions, and recognition from admirers, yet he never ceased his determined quest for his artistic path. In ancient times, "serdyuk" referred to professional infantrymen in the Cossack ranks. This heritage likely passed down not only the surname but also many Cossack traits to the artist, including hard work, modesty, and human dignity.
Boris Serdyuk creates in genres such as portrait, landscape, and thematic composition. His works are varied, reflecting the artist's impressions of the places he visited. Among them are picturesque corners of Kremenchuk and Dnipro views, urban and maritime landscapes, the grandeur of the Carpathian Mountains, and cozy Ukrainian villages. His canvases are intriguing in terms of color and relatively compositionally perfect, revealing the life of nature at the time of their execution.
There are also commissioned portraits and paintings, such as "Shevchenko in Baturyn." He spent over a year working on it, studying the architecture of the former hetman capital. However, the artist prefers to work swiftly, capturing the vision of a painting before it fades from his mind and before the sun changes its angle and shadows. On average, according to the artist, he spends about 40 minutes on a single landscape.
Boris successfully combines a poetic perception of the world and a deep understanding of nature with brilliant artistic execution. His paintings exude a special light and a delicate sense of nature – vivid colors on the canvas resonate with intermediate tones. The artist has abandoned contours, replacing them with separate and contrasting brushstrokes; his paintings amaze with colors, not only their diversity but also the amount of substance applied to the canvas – vibrant, vivid, voluminous.
Describing the master's works is a challenging task. Boris Serdyuk's works are special – they are painted with soul. One must see and feel the wonderful harmony of nature on the artist's canvases firsthand and touch the great mystery of Art.
