Description
Into the Storm portrays a dramatic maritime rescue scene, with three responders navigating an inflatable vessel through a violent surge of waves. The intense contrast between the vivid orange rescue gear and the vast, cold expanse of the sea draws the eye to the figures' perseverance as they lean into the wind and spray. Every stroke of the brush reinforces the sense of motion — the heaving water, the spray breaking against the boat, the weight of the storm pressing in from all sides. Rather than focusing on individual identity, the painting highlights the collective resolve of people who face danger in order to save others. The horizon fades into a stormy blur, suggesting both uncertainty and the bravery required to move forward despite it. This work is part of Zubova's ongoing exploration of maritime narratives. The work was selected for and exhibited at the 2025 Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries, London.
Presentation
Tatiana Zubova is a Prague-based contemporary realist painter whose practice explores the intersection of material reality, symbolism, and inner belief. Working primarily in oil, she combines classical techniques with a conceptual approach, creating seascapes, figurative works, and miniature series that examine the emotional and psychological structures beneath visible form.
Zubova's work has been exhibited internationally, including the Royal Society of Marine Artists Annual Exhibition (London, UK), NOAPS Best of America (Indianapolis, USA), the Royal Miniature Society Annual Exhibition (London, UK), the American Society of Marine Artists' 2nd Annual ASMA Awards, and the Federation of Canadian Artists exhibitions (Vancouver, Canada).
Her work has received several distinctions, including the RSMA New Generation Award 2025, the NOAPS Best of America 2025 Merit Award, the NOAPS 2025 Fall Online Show Merit Award, and other prestigious art recognitions.
