Description
This captivating work presents an enchanting nighttime seaside scene. Three women are depicted with serene grace, embodying a moment of tranquility. In the foreground, two women sit on the sand, one wrapped in a white towel, exchanging a knowing glance. To the left, a woman holds a mirror, a symbol of reflection and femininity. In the background, a third figure stands in the water, partially draped, adding an element of mystery. The soft color palette, dominated by shades of blue and flesh, creates a soothing atmosphere. The night sky, with its full moon, intensifies the sense of calm. This harmonious and well-balanced composition blends classical and modern elements, recalling the works of past masters while asserting a contemporary singularity. The flowing lines and simplified forms reinforce the timeless elegance of the scene.
Presentation
Thomas Groslier was born in Amiens in 1957.
In 1976, he entered the Beaux-Arts of Valence.
During his training years, he was interested in the works of Delvaux, Gromaire, Balthus, De Chirico, Van Gogh and Fragonard.
Starting in 1983, he develops a figurative work drawing from classicism. His subjects are multiple: portraits, landscapes, still lifes, and genre scenes.
His painting is characterized by a smooth and precise execution, as well as a generally restricted palette, dominated by blues, grays, and greens.
The artist favors small formats, more intimate ones, and develops different techniques. He works mainly with oil and tempera, on canvas, wood or cardboard, supports most often prepared by himself.
Since 1983, his work has been exhibited in different venues, galleries, and museums.
