Linen and Gold
In the Linen and Gold series, I create a dialogue between the simplicity of raw linen and the brilliance of gold. Warm, natural beige tones meet golden light to create a world that is at once soft, soothing, vibrant, and harmonious.
I combine several materials such as linen canvas, gold leaf, pigments, and acrylic paint, allowing me to explore a diversity of techniques. Some canvases open onto spontaneous, controlled yet free projections that infuse the work with a vibration of vitality. Others are organized around concentric circles gravitating around a golden center, like a sun, a symbol of light and inner energy. Finally, some works literally explode with paint and ink on the raw background, conveying the intensity of life in all its power.
Through this series, I unite strength and fragility, the natural and the precious, the silence of linen and the brilliance of gold, a quest for balance between grounding and elevation.
Presentation
Lau Vago, a Belgian painter, discovered painting in 2006 while pursuing a long and demanding university career.
Very quickly , her artistic practice becomes a vital necessity, a space of freedom and intuition as a counterpart to the rigour of her studies.
This dialogue between science and creation fuels a profound personal quest: to translate the essentials of life through matter and color. By experimenting with ink, pigments, acrylic, and gold leaf, Lau Vago has developed a spontaneous, sensitive style and gradually built a unique pictorial language.
Her works are regularly exhibited in Belgium and feature in several private collections.
