Description
This artwork presents a striking portrayal of floral beauty through an abstract lens. Delicate, elongated stems rise upwards, each adorned with blossoms that seem to burst with color. The flowers are rendered in a vibrant palette of purples, pinks, and greens, where watercolor techniques allow an organic blending, suggesting both movement and life. The background remains starkly white, drawing the viewer's focus entirely on the dynamic interplay of colors and forms. Each flower appears unique, with petals that seem to both unravel and merge, hinting at the ephemeral nature of blooms. The artist's deft use of thin, wavering lines contributes to a sense of fragility and grace. This work is a celebration of nature's elegance, captured through an abstract approach that is both minimalist and profoundly expressive.
Presentation
Kenna Mackay is a contemporary Scottish glass artist and painter whose practice bridges traditional stained-glass craftsmanship and contemporary fine art. A graduate of the Edinburgh College of Art, she creates luminous works in stained, painted, and fused glass alongside expressive paintings in watercolor, ink, and acrylic. Drawing inspiration from botanical forms and the natural world, Mackay's work explores light, color, and organic structure through layered compositions that move fluidly between sculpture, glass, and painting.
