Description
EXHIBITION: This exhibition is produced through a new collaboration between the association “VERTIKALL GALERIE NOMADE" and “TOSTAIN LAFFINEUR." They propose to highlight a prime Lille building by having renowned regional, national, and international artists, invited by the “DEATH CLUB," take over the site. Located in the heart of Lille, this 900 m² building will host a vision of this spectacular, albeit temporary, location. Entitled “TEXTILES IMPRINTS," this exhibition emphasizes the exceptional verticality of this historic Lille space. Through this temporary occupation, the site is showcased and demonstrates its potential for a more permanent use. Visitors are invited to experience the building's power while discovering creations that play with dimensions and perspectives.
Text: Sequined costume, mocking smile ready to begin the danse macabre, you recognized him: "the toreador"
The bull hides a disarming naiveté, like a child lost in a zoo. He advances, head held high, oblivious to the human circus surrounding him. His eyes, two abysses of innocence, scrutinize this absurd world, saturated with shouts and garish colors.
The crowd roars, bloodthirsty, hungry for violence. It would have been easy to add the weapons with paint, but I won't give it to him. My questions then echo through the arena: who is the real animal here? Who is truly naive? Who is truly lost?
Technique: spray paint, acrylic, sand, pastel.
Created on 7 canvases on stretcher bars + wood

Presentation
Aket Kubic, born May 20, 1989 in Grande-Synthe, northern France. He is a French contemporary street artist whose work transcends national borders. Growing up in an artistic environment, Aket made his first encounters with art during adolescence. It was then that he discovered graffiti and signed his blaze "Aket" for the first time, a pseudonym that is a caricatural reference to a peculiarity of his face.
Aket Kubic interprets everyday life, transforming routine and simple ordinary scenes into positive and surprising visions that speak to everyone. His work brings new perspectives to traditional scenes, giving the viewer a fresh outlook on the mundane. Through his creation, Aket defies the codes of cubism, accentuating forms using techniques of urban art. His unique style is immediately recognizable, characterized by an emphasis on geometric objects like cubes and a playful, experimental approach to art.
In 2021, Aket created "Mr Tarin," an iconic and caricatural character representing a stereotypical Frenchman. Mr Tarin, with his red nose symbolizing wine and blue beret, quickly became a signature element of Aket's art. In 2023, Aket embarked on the series "Fights," a comprehensive and timeless subject exploring the stories and relationships that unite people. His work in this series continues to showcase his distinctive style and narrative ability.
Aket's growing prominence in the art world was solidified when he was selected by Coca-Cola for their global MASTERPIECE campaign, confirming his status as a reference in artistic circles. Aket Kubic continues to engage in an experimental and playful approach to art, using his creations to explore and present personalities and subjects with a stylistic closeness to cubism. His vibrant and dynamic work remains a testament to his ability to breathe new life into the ordinary and make it extraordinary.Aket Kubic, from his graffiti beginnings to his current status as a celebrated contemporary street artist, has made a significant impact on the art world. His unique approach to everyday life and cubism, combined with his playful experimentation, ensures his place as a significant figure in contemporary art.
